What Cloak is
Cloak is an offline AI chat application for iPhone and iPad, published on the App Store as Cloak: Offline AI Chat. It is developed by Polyaura, an independent technology lab.
Unlike a cloud AI chat app, Cloak does not send your message anywhere to get an answer. The language model is stored on your iPhone or iPad and runs there, using the device's own hardware. That single design decision is what produces every other property below: there is no server that could read your conversations, there is no account to create or subscription to renew, and it keeps working with no connection at all.
Where the AI actually runs
AI inference runs locally on the device. When you send a message in Cloak, the model on your iPhone or iPad generates the response. No prompt, no reply, and no conversation history is transmitted to a remote AI service for processing.
Conversations are not sent to cloud AI servers. Chats, settings, and preferences are stored locally using standard iOS storage. Cloak contains no analytics and no third-party SDKs. Working without an internet connection
Cloak works without an internet connection after its model is installed. The first time you open the app, it downloads its AI model to the device. The app shows a progress bar while the model transfers and asks you to keep it open until that finishes. That download is the only step that needs a network, and it is best done over Wi-Fi before you need the chatbot somewhere without signal.
After the download finishes, Cloak answers with no connection at all — on a flight with no Wi-Fi, camping with no cellular service, on the subway, or abroad without a data plan. There is no server for the app to lose contact with.
Personalization
Cloak supports multiple chat threads you can switch between, and a settings screen where you can set your own system prompt to shape how the AI responds — shorter, more detailed, a particular tone — along with the app's background color. All of it saves locally, with no account involved.

What Cloak does not do
- No cloud inference. There is no server fallback for harder questions. Every response comes from the model on the device.
- No web access. Cloak cannot look up live information such as news, weather, or prices.
